It’s my favorite time of year!  I am an autumn girl through and through!  The chilly mornings, the falling leaves, the smell of bonfires – I live for it all!  And truth be told, I love fall in the music room too!  There’s so much great content to choose from – spooky soundscapes, ostinati, minor songs, and more!  In today’s post, I’m sharing some of my favorite fall activities to do in elementary music!

Five Brother Pumpkins

If the chant Five Little Pumpkins had an older sibling, this would be it!  Five Brother Pumpkins is a song written by the brilliant Rob DelGaudio.  (If you don’t know about his YouTube Channel, go now!  And if you have the opportunity to see him present, immediately register!).  This is a great song to use as a cool-down in class with your older students.  Another classroom favorite of ours is his song, Autumn is Here.  It’s great to introduce unpitched percussion to younger students!

In the Hall of the Mountain King

There are so many fabulous activities for in the Hall of the Mountain King, so much so that I wrote an entire blog post about it!  From melody, rhythm, form to tempo and dynamics.  You can find something for every grade level to learn using that song alone!  But if I’m being honest, one of my students favorite activities is the Musication Boomwhacker Playlong to In the Hall of the Mountain King!

Who Picked the Apples?

If you’re looking for a fall call & response song to sing with your little ones, look no more!  Who Picked the Apples is an easy to learn call & response song that uses all of the favorite activities we love to engage in each fall – from apple & pumpkins to hayrides and trick or treating.  Included in this resource is the song notation, lyric slides, suggested activities and more.  You can find it in my TpT store or SingtoKids store on my website!

Compose Graveyard

The Composer Graveyard is great for older students, when you need a one-and-done activity!  It’s an interactive journey to help students discover hauntingly beautiful classical piece, composers, ensembles, and instruments.  And the best part?  This resource is FREE in my TpT store!
